No student data. Really.
Musalator is made for school music classes. Students never sign up, log in, or give a name or an email address, and nothing on these pages follows them around.

What stays on the device
Each app remembers a few things in the browser on that device only: settings such as sound on or off, a student's own best score, finished missions, and the beat they were building. In Beatalator, a "My voice" recording is kept the same way. None of this is ever sent to us, and clearing the browser's website data removes it.
The one thing that leaves the device: a top 10 score
In Playalator, Stavalator and Soccalator, a student who makes the top 10 can choose to put a tag on the board with their score. That is all that is stored:
- A tag: three initials, and a number if they like (JAM, JAM7). Never a name, a class or a school.
- The score (and in Playalator, the notes and timing percentages that make it up), and when it was posted, so a student can spot the score they just made.
The boards are public on this site. An entry stays until higher scores push it off. Tags that spell something rude are not allowed, and any that get through are removed.
Stopping spam, without keeping addresses
To stop anyone flooding a board, each connection can post a limited number of scores an hour. That count is filed under a scrambled code that can't be turned back into an internet address, and it is deleted after an hour. No internet address is ever stored.
Who runs it
The site is hosted by Vercel, and the top 10s are stored with Upstash. Like every web host, Vercel briefly keeps technical records of requests to run and protect the service. We don't use them to identify anyone, and there are no analytics.
The apps were made by a music teacher. The piano and guitar sounds are free recordings released into the public domain (CC0). The music font is Bravura (SIL Open Font Licence), and music notation is drawn with VexFlow (MIT licence).
Questions
Teachers: found a bug or have an idea? Email support@alator.app. There is deliberately no feedback form for students, so nothing they type can end up stored.
